Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Leather Jacket — Product Reviews

Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Leather Jacket Reviewed By Matthew from Las cruces, NM

Pros: This jacket is pretty nice. I dropped my bike going about 20 miles an hour on gravel and my upper body is perfectly fine, however my legs got some road rash…just had on jeans. The jacket is made of leather so it does get quite hot. It vents good but I still sweat quite a bit in it. I live southern New Mexico where it gets up in the mid nineties. It is bearable though.

Cons: The back has the foam stuff, but its not too bad. You can buy C.E. approved armor if its that big of a deal for you. It fits pretty well. I am 145 pounds and 5’6. I ordered a small and its too small for me. I suggest ordering a medium if you have the same build as me. The length of the arms is fine, but the chest is a little tight, and it could be a little longer on the waist.

Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Leather Jacket Reviewed By Yamaha Rider from Nothern Vermont

Pros: Good quality jacket. The leather is soft but seems plenty sturdy enough to hold up. The armor stays in place. I thought the jacket would be hot in warmer weather but removing the side panels does a good job of venting and keeping things cool when you’re moving.

Cons: I thought it was a bit pricey, but I guess if you want quality you have to pay for it!

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: Jacket is a bit roomy but that will come in handy as the weather turns colder and bulkier items are worn under it. The adjustable waist bands do a nice job of making sure it fits properly and stays where it needs to.

Comments: All in all i think I think I made the right choice. Was originally planning on buying a textile jacket for less money but I’m glad I went this route. Good quality and looks great. You really can’t go wrong with this one.

Pros: Looks good. Perf helps in the heat. After temps hit 88 deg F, the jacket gets a bit warm, but most everything else does too. Inside left breast zippered pocket is handy.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: The 3XL size fit me very well. I wear a 36-37 inch sleeve and the jacket fit perfectly.

Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Leather Jacket Reviewed By Juan from Novato, CA

Pros: Nice heavy jacket, good thick leather. Vents are easy to take off.

Cons: The inside lining that keeps you warm only covers the chest (like a vest), on my last jackets the liner went all the way down the sleeves. This is a good summer jacket, but it isn’t that great in the cold. at 60F great, 50F ok, might need a second layer (even with the liner) 40F and bellow you really need two layers underneath or you’ll freeze.

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: Although the jacket fits great, I was expecting it to be a little longer, it barely gets to my waist and I am not tall at all (5′ 7″). Doesn’t bother me but I would select the next size up if I had to do it over again.

Comments: Overall I love the jacket, it has enough padding and looks great. Just wished it had a full, warmer liner for the winter months.

Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Leather Jacket Reviewed By Anonymous from Douglasville, GA

Pros: Simply a very nice jacket. I originally thought the jacket to be pricey but absolutely love it and it looks really nice on. Can’t wait to wear it out.

Cons: The front chest area has no additional padding in case of a front fall off the bike but short of that, no real issues.

Pros: Looks beautiful. Great ventilation. Cheap price.

Cons: Thin, soft, leather.

Sizing Info: Fits 1 size smaller

Additional Sizing Notes: Get it one size larger because they run small. I usually wear a 48 in Rocket Jackets. So I ordered the corresponding size, a large. it was too tight.

Comments: I cannot tell a lie! Whoever says this jacket is great probally never had a real motorcycle jacket before. I have two other Joe Rocket Jackets, the Suzuki Supersport, and the Kawasaki Supersport. I love Joe rocket Jackets so I am not biased. Compared to those jackets this one is crap. The leather is supple and thin. It looks great, but I not not think it will hold up in an accident at highway speeds. Motorcycle jackets should have thick, tanned, rough leather. Usually 1.2mm to 1.5mm. This jacket is like a spring leather jacket you wear out on a hot date. Not one you can expect to protect you from road rash at speeds 55 MPH or more. I sent it right back as soon as I felt it’s quality. Think about it, Why do you think it’s $200-$300 less than the the premium Joe Rocket Jackets? If you are going to ride around town on local roads obeying the speed limit, you can get away with wearing this jacket. If you plan on going on the highway, PLEASE buy a different one. Icon Field Armor Vest — Product Review

Icon Field Armor Vest

Reviewed By Josh from Coral springs, FL
Pros: Those foam pads that are included with most jackets are no comparison to this armor. Wear this under your jacket and remove the back pad because you are no longer going to need it. Flexible so it bends as you do. Someone once described this product to me as making you look like a turtle. I’d much rather look like a turtle than have a spine injury! Great protection at a reasonable price.

Cons: Makes you sweat more when it’s hot out due to contact, but certainly worth it for the safety factor

Icon Field Armor Vest Reviewed By Jake from MD
Pros: Feels fairly comfortable, light weight, not very noticible while riding. Offers moderate protection against falls. Doesnt cost 250 bucks like the spidi defendor armor.

Cons: Fit is not perfect. The thickness of the plastic armoring seems sufficient to protect against any abrasion you can throw at it, however the padding does not appear to be thick enough to effectively absorb higher energy impacts.

Additional Sizing Notes: I am 6′ 3″ and the larger size is a few inches short on my lower spine – it offers no tailbone protection at all. I am also fairly skinny, and I found that the side velcro straps are too long, it makes the vest fit a bit loose around the sides/ hip area. I plan on modifying the straps myself for a more snug fit.

Comments: All in all, not a bad product. Pricing is very competetive. Comfortable to wear all day. It doesnt provide as much protection as I would like, but it is certaintly better than nothing. I would reccomend it to friends.Product Reviews of Sportbike Motorcycle Parts, Accessories and Apparel. Sidi Vortice Boots — Product Review

Sidi Vortice Boots

Reviewed By Alex from Bear, DE
Pros: There are plenty of reviews online that go into detail about the various features of this boot so i won’t go into specifics. this is mainly a comparison review between the vertigo and vortice. More comfortable than the vertigo (relatively of course. no riding boot is “comfortable”) and they seem like they have more padding. i think they are easier to walk in too. the best way i have found to accomplish this if you plan to spend a lot of time walking is to loosen (not release) all the straps. air flow on these is tremendous! in the vertigo i had to really pay attention my feet to see if there was airflow. i’m still not sure that little vent on the vertigo did anything at all. now even with the non-perfed vortice there is no question-tons of flow my feet are dry and snug as a bug in a rug! you really can’t get any better than these boots, even for street riding.

Cons: definitely noisier than the vertigo. this is to be expected. the sound is coming from the various straps rubbing on the lorica. i really honestly don’t see this as a deal breaker. if you care about noise in riding boots then your dumb. the other things are mentioned in other reviews: takes more time to put on (duh) and costs more (double duh)

Sizing Info: Fits 1 size larger

Additional Sizing Notes: Fits like the other sidi boots, 1-2 sizes larger depending on what you wear normally, and if you like your stuff tight. suggest trying on in person before buying online.

Sidi Vortice Racing Boots Reviewed By Michael from North wales, PA
Pros: Tons and tons of protection and all the parts that can be damaged can be replaced

Cons: None

Sizing Info: Fits 1 size smaller

Comments: These are the best thing if your looking for protection on your bike. They give you a much more feel footing at lights and help you make smoother more percise foot movements. They took a little bit to get use to walking in but it was no big deal. If your thinking about these get them, I don’t get on my bike with out them

Sidi Vortice Racing Boots Reviewed By Randy O from Indiana
Pros: I wanted a “purpose” built “race” boot.. This is it.. Great security and every piece on the boot that can get damages or worn is replaceable..

Cons: DO NOT get in a rush putting these on.. with all the security, there is a price to pay on putting them on. Not so great for walking around in but if you cut the fitment devices loose, they will give fairly well.. I can not see wearing such a high dollar boot around any more than needed.. they are “track” boots.. keep them there..

Sizing Info: Fits true to size

Additional Sizing Notes: Sizes same as the Alpine Star boot for my foot.. I also own Tourmaster/Oxtar in identical sizes.. all fit the same

Comments: This is the last race boot you will likely need to purchase if you are running races or track days (aside from fashion changes).. They take 5-8 minutes to put on and come off fairly quickly.. it is all the extra “fitting” devices that take so long, get familiar with them with the boot “OFF” your foot and where you can look at what you are doing..Product Reviews of Sportbike Motorcycle Parts, Accessories and Apparel. RK GB520XSO X-RING 120 Link Chain — Product Review

RK GB520XSO X-RING 120 Link Chain

Reviewed By Jason from Moneta, VA
Pros: The chain looks fantastic. I know that doesn’t make the chain any better but it sure helps the eye. The chain is actually very nice looks very strong very well greased from the factory. I had my local shop install for me and when I showed him the chain his words were ” alright a nice quality chain you bought.” Not knowing much about chains I felt good with my purchase. The chain has about 1000 miles on it now and no signs of wear still nice and snug no stretching as of yet. May my ride extremely more responsive but mainley because my other chain and sprocket settup was very well used and well over due for replacement. The chain and Vortex sprocket settup 520 conversion seems to have helped the acceleration on the bike. Very pleased with the purchase so far.

Cons: Get some grease fling initially but that is probably better then no lube on the chain so worth the mess to keep the chain running smooth.
